About The Team

Tom Gilroy (Director/Writer) wrote and directed the short Touch Base, starring Lili Taylor, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and the critically acclaimed feature Spring Forward starring Liev Schreiber, Ned Beatty, Ian Hart and Campbell Scott. A three-time fellow of The Mac
Dowell Colony and two-time fellow of the Sundance Labs, Tom was recently awarded the San Francisco Film Society's Kenneth Rainin Foundation Screenwriting grant for his new feature script, Our Lady of the Snow. His plays - most notably The Invisible Hand and Halcyon Days - have been produced in several US cities and around the world. Along with co-creator of The Daily Show Lizz Winstead, Tom just completed a two-year run as the director and head writer of the political satire theatre project Wake Up, World, and last year was commissioned (alongside Sophie Calle, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Albert Maysles) by music legends R.E.M. to create It Happened Today, a short work inspired by their final album. The Cold Lands is his second feature film.

Paul Mezey (Producer) is a New York-based independent producer, founder of Journeyman Pictures, and Producer in Residence at Cinereach. Synopsis

When his fiercely self-reliant mother dies unexpectedly, eleven year-old Atticus is wary of the authorities and flees deep into the forests of his Catskills home. His sheltered, off-the-grid childhood is over, and a new life on the move has begun. As Atticus wanders the woods in a daze, relying on whatever food and shelter he can find, the line between reality and fantasy begins to blur. When he encounters Carter, a scruffy, pot smoking drifter who lives out of his car and sells necklaces at music festivals, Atticus latches on. The two form a wary alliance, and as their dependence upon each other grows, neither is quite sure he is making the right decision.
